The main attraction of the city is a stone tower which is deemed to be the oldest in the world. The city has seen all ages known to man starting from Stone Age to Bronze and Iron Age. Administrative control of the city was handed over to Palestine in 1994 by Israel. Before Israel, Jericho was under the control of Jordan.
